We are local people and businesses supporting Community Choice Energy for Ventura County and our region.

What is Community Choice Energy?

Channel Islands Energy Choice envisions locally managed electricity purchasing in our region, including Ventura County. Cities and counties can choose to create an electricity purchasing district. 

• The electricity purchasing district signs contracts to buy electricity from those who generate it, and can offer lower rates and more renewable energy in the mix.
  

• The utility company, Southern California Edison (SCE), continues to distribute the electricity, manage and service the transmission lines and grid, and handle billing.

• Customers get to choose who buys electricity for them--their local district or SCE.

This is known as Community Choice Aggregation (CCA)--also called Community Choice Energy (CCE).

Offer Lower Rates and More Renewable Energy:

• Since 2010, Marin County (also serving Cities of Richmond, Benicia, El Cerrito, San Pablo, and unincorporated Napa County)

• Since May 2014, Sonoma County

• Since May 2015, City of Lancaster

On August 11th the Ventura County Board of Supervisors
voted (4 to 1) to take the first step toward
Community Choice Energy by
participating with Santa Barbara County
in a regional CCE technical study
and
providing $50,000 funding.

CEC will not seek or accept contributions from corporations in the oil or natural gas industry or from mining and minerals companies.
